Job Description

CareerFinders, on behalf of our client, a newly established company created to provide a full range of loan and real estate management services for one of Europe’s leading investors, we are seeking to recruit a highly experienced, dynamic and senior-level Chief Financial Officer to lead their finance function in Cyprus, based in Nicosia.

Role Overview: 
 
As a key member of the senior management team, the Chief Financial Officer will have the overall responsibility for analysing financial information, producing budgets and forecasts and preparing the necessary financial reports. He/She will actively participate in the development and implementation of the Company’s strategy and key policies, with a particular focus on strategic financial objectives.
As the organisation is in early stages of development, this is a great opportunity for the right candidate to help shape the business.
 
Key Duties/Responsibilities:
 

  • Undertake the overall management of the accounting & finance department, supervising the preparation of financial statements, management accounts and other financial reports, in accordance with company, statutory, legal and regulatory requirements and timetables for both the investment and corporate activities.
  • Communicate effectively with the regulator and proactively set up, consolidate and improve the reporting process to the local regulators.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with senior executives to identify their needs and seek full range of business solutions.
  • Maintain financial systems and processes which support accounting and financial information requirements.
  • Monitor the Company’s capital adequacy, overseeing cash flow planning and ensuring availability of funds as required.
  • Consider proper financing strategies and maintain sound relationships with financing institutions, in close co-operation with the Chief Executive Officer and the Board of Directors.
  • Establish and monitor the corporate budget and oversee the approval and processing of revenue, expenditure and functional/departmental budgets, providing regular business analysis to the board.
  • Ensure that effective internal controls are in place to safeguard company processes and assets.
  • Coordinating with various other departments (legal/compliance, IT etc.) to establish policies, processes and management information structures to ensure that the company operates efficiently and effectively.
  • Ensure financial risks are properly understood and managed.
  • Maintain an overview of economic and market conditions and understand their effects upon both the current portfolio and potential further acquisitions.
  • Develop and lead a team of finance professionals, including resource planning, appraisal, and training.
  • Ensure job knowledge and awareness of new regulations is kept up to date.
  • Liaise with any external service providers such as external auditors and tax advisers, as well as with banks and the key stakeholders.
  • Act as a role model demonstrating leadership and management qualities and promote a culture that reflects the company’s values, encourages good performance and rewards productivity.

 
Key Skills/Experience:
 

  • At least 10 years of post-qualification experience in progressively responsible financial leadership roles, preferably in a financial services provider/asset management company or service provider.
  • A blend of experience across a range of key areas including, financial management, financial control, tax and treasury, strategy planning, reporting & analysis and leadership and team development.
  • Professional qualification ACA, ACCA or CPA.
  • University degree in Accounting, Finance or in a related field.
  • Excellent command of the Greek and English languages, both verbal and written, and highly effective communication skills.
  • Excellent computer literacy (including exposure with accounting software and ERP systems).
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and forge trusted working relationships at all levels.
  • Technical competence in all relevant aspects of finance listed above.
  • Impeccable integrity and ethical standards.
  • Commercial acumen and strategically-minded, but hands-on in approach.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
  • Dependable with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
  • Experience working for a loan servicing business will be considered an advantage.
  • Experience working within a unionised environment in Cyprus will be considered an advantage.
