Nicosia
A private group of companies, with an office to be setup in Nicosia, currently seeks to recruit an experienced and capable accountant for the position of the Accountant/Bookkeeper.
This position requires working closely with the Director here in Cyprus and will take responsibility to maintain in good standing a portfolio of approximately fifteen group companies in various jurisdictions, mainly for their Accounting and Tax/VAT requirements and secondly for other requirements such as Compliance, Secretarial and Banking.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Ensuring the decisions and instructions of the management are adhered to at all times.
- Reviewing and analyzing the operations and activities of the assigned portfolio.
- Maintaining of proper accounting records and booking/recording of all transactions in the system.
- Preparing of management accounts and other relevant reports.
- Conducting of creditors, debtors, cash, bank and intra-group reconciliations to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Coordinating and providing assistance for the smooth performance of the statutory audits.
- Dealing with tax/vat requirements and liaising with the relevant authorities accordingly.
- Providing basic support in corporate administration such as compliance, secretarial and banking matters.
- Liaising with offices abroad for various matters relating to the group.
- Travelling occasionally in case this will be required.
- Other ad hoc tasks that may be assigned by the management from time to time.
Qualifications/Skills/Experience:
- Degree graduate in Accounting, Finance or relevant field.
- Part-Qualified or recently Qualified ACA/ACCA with excellent bookkeeping and accounting knowledge.
- Proficiency with Information and Communications Technology (ICT), including Microsoft Office.
- Good knowledge of IFRSs and Cyprus Companies Law and Tax Legislation.
- Good knowledge of Cyprus VAT. Knowledge of UK VAT will be considered a distinctive advantage.
- Basic knowledge in Corporate Administration including Compliance, Secretarial and Banking matters.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in Greek and English (Written & Spoken).
