GPS of Cyprus

Cyprus is situated at the eastern edge of the northwestern Mediterranean basin and is the third largest island in the Mediterranean after Sardinia and Sicily. Cyprus has latitude 34°33 - 35°34 and east geographical length 32°16 - 34°37. Cyprus has an area of 9,251 sq km, maximum length 240 km and maximum width 100 km. It is 800 kilometers from continental Greece and 380 km from Rhodes and Karpathos.

To the north of Cyprus is Turkey which is only 75 kilometers from the northern coast. To the east is Syria (105 km) and south Egypt (380 kilometers).
Morphology of Cyprus
From morphological point of view, Cyprus can be divided in the following morphological regions:
The Troodos mountain complex.
The north ridge of Pentadaktylos.
The central plain.
The hilly area around the mountainous Troodos complex.
Coastal plains.
Area of land

The total area of arable land of Cyprus is 118,000 hectares or 46, 80% of the total area of the island, while forests cover a total area of 175,411 hectares or 18, 74% of the total area of the island. The main products of the plains are cereals (wheat and barley), vegetables, potatoes and citrus. Olive grows all over the island, but mainly on the slopes near the sea. The vineyards occupy a large area in the southern and western slopes of the Troodos.

Deciduous fruit trees thrive in the fertile valleys. The most important products for export citrus and potatoes. Are also exported, watermelons, melons, tomatoes, herbs package, herbs and other early vegetables.
